Yeah it's Tikal. Don't bother searching google images for TIkal... just did it and that image isnt there lol (really bored tonight!). However I found a very similiar photo (i.e. taken from roughly the same spot) http://americanindian.net/tik/tn_Tikal.jpg so that proves it's tikal. You can see all the same trees and hills etc... Weird huh? Interesting to see an ancient link between the lost island and earth... makes ya wonder why no expertmaticians haven't come up with totally solid lost theories... Maybe they have, and then been brutally silenced!! *clang*
Yes, it's Tikal in Guatemala. (I'm from there myself;)) Could this be a homage to "Star Wars"? They used the same shot for the final sequence when Luke and Han fly of a planet to destroy the Death Star...

I don't think that it's related

the clue is something related to season 1, not something from season 1 itself- the balloon clue wasnt the same balloon as henry gale's just similar.
i noticed this "temple" while i was playing, but couldnt get a good enough look. definitely something though...
idont know maybe could be......
I agree with you morgan. If we've learned anything, it's not to take the clues too literally.
Why would they take the time to photoshop it in if it had no significance? Why not just have the smoke?
After some lighting it looks like it was taken next to the ruins or something similar... (look at the right hand side)

Since its first season maybe it has something to do with Danielle when she saw the black smoke ?
I'm pretty sure that's Tikal. Wiki it.

That's 100% Tikal. Been there myself. The smoke is added, obviously.
