Adam and Eve are Amelia and Fred?

Here is more about Amelia Earhart and another theory from Team Game from Brazil.

Thanks to Rafaella.

I think you already figured out this one, but I don't know if you guys remember this interview with Lindelof and Cuse ....

They said:
"What is the meaning or significance of the two skeletons that Jack and Kate found in the cave of season 1?"

CUSE: The answer to that question goes to the nature of the timeline of the island. We don't want to say too much about it, but there are a couple Easter eggs embedded in " Not in Portland", one of which is an anagram that actually sheds some light on the skeletons and hints at a larger mythological mystery that will start to unfold later in the season.

LINDELOF: There were certain things we knew from the very beginning. Independent of ever knowing when the end was going to be, we knew what it was going to be, and we wanted to start setting it up as early as season 1, or else people would think that we were making it up as we were going along. So the skeletons are the living—or, I guess, slowly decomposing—proof of that. When all is said and done, people are going to point to the skeletons and say, "That is proof that from the very beginning, they always knew that they were going to do this."

The anagram we already know is in the "Not in Portland", Herarat Aviation..

I think that we found our Adam and Eve...(Amélia and Noonan)

What do you think guys!?

:) sounds good to me

The broadcast on their disappearance seems to add credence to the possibility.

Des/Penny or Jack/Kate are the other standard choices. But those REQUIRE full-fledged time-travel, right?

Bolivar Baez said...

Yeah, they are dead, but at the same time alive?

i'm liking this idea A LOT more than the 'Earhart is still alive on the island'. The idea of Earhart still being alive on the island, to me, smacks of insincerity.
just thinking out loud here, but given that, and that Dramha doesn't show up on the island until, what, 40 years(?) after Earhart and Noonan go missing, maybe might possibly signify the beginning (or the 'modern' incarnation) of the 'hostiles'???
Just throwing it out there... (to be mauled soon, I'm sure ;)

leaves not much doubt in my mind now !

Wait, we saw Herarat Aviation in "One of Us", not "Not in Portland"...?

Charlie08 said...

oh ! does that also mean that the others had such reverance for her they named there off island location after her ?? lol

spets said...

Yes Chris "Herarat Aviation" was from the episode One of Us, not in the "not in portland"-episode as this article says. The anagram from "Not in portland" is confirmed to be LOST TIME, after the company name Mittleos.

:P

That would be kind of stupid, seeing how Adam en Eve are supposed to be this big revelation, and those two people have way more to do with the ARG than with the series. I mean they might all be canon, but not nearly important enough for such a revelation.

If the show is indeed about time travel and timekeeping, and I believe that it is, Adam and Eve should be two of the losties...

Just my 2 cents.

I like the ideia that the amelia in the island is the Amelia Earhart, but i wont be desapointed if the skeleton is in fact her!!!

I really can't believe that people, today, where information is just one click and a few words from the keyboard away, don't check their facts before posing such theories. As someone already states, the anagram in Not in Portland, and already confirmed, is LOST TIME. So it basically has nothing to do with Amelia, at least not THAT episode and not THAT anagram. And besides, they said "a COUPPLE OF EASTER EGGS...", not "ONLY AN ANAGRAM". While the idea that those are Amelia and Fred, it depends on the curse of the next three seasons how they'll make that big "ahaaaaa"-effect Lindelof is talking about in his last segment.
Anyway, the Amelia on the island, in the book club, looks too much like Earhart as to not have anything to do with her. And besides, you all seem to forget that Richard didn't age... maybe it's the same with Amelia - she aged just a bit...

Anonymous said...

yeah i think its her!

Ghoun said...

well that looks so stolen now, a few days after i post it in the comments that adam and eve might be amela and fred it magically shows up from another source. how convenient....

Rafaella Albuquerque said...

Jake... The Amélia in the book club is much older than Amélia Hearhart.. so If the people in the Island didn't age.. how does Amélia gets to age so much..

Sorry if I post that the Anagrame was in "Not in Portland"... I send this to Dark in the intention of discuss the idia ..was not my intention to say that I was right about it!!

ghoun..I'm so sorry that you point that out before me and nobody listen to you... I didnt read every thing that people post in this.. and I'm sorry that I could think about this by myself...

Guys.. This is just a thought .. I not saying that this is the ultimate true about that subject!
If you don't agreed .. well. don't!

Morgan said...

couldn't it be both? they could be adam and eve and the book club woman... we've seen "dead" people alive on the island before. eko's brother's body was clearly decaying in a plane yet he appeared to be alive.

Whoa! That's make total sense
Really nice!

I´m with Rafaella
So jake, if you are soooo brilhant, tell me ? whats your theory ? I didnt read ?

Easy to use only existis theory, isn´t ??

JACK : she aged just a bit...

Soooo, pleaseeee stop !!!!

Morgan: Those dead people only appeared for brief moments -- they didn't move in with the Losties! I've always thought Yemmi/Christian/Boone were manifestations of the island, or dreams, or the smoke monster.

Making both "Amelia" *and* "Eve" Amelia Earhart would be a little too cute for my tastes. It should be one or the other.

thats just amazing and creepy

DUDE. i totally speculated adam and eve being amelia and fred in season 1 when it was definitely looking like bermuda triangle/all LOST things/black hole type of story.

i think itd be awesome if it was however i dont see LOST going in the direction where it will actually point to specific time and people because i believe the creators of this show will only allude to such things to keep the reference to time but to still make the show timeless.

If Adam and Eve are Fred and Amelia, who laid them to rest in the caves?

Миљан Давид Танић said...

@rafaella: It's not a problem to mess up the episodes. But you base your theory on what the producers said about the easter eggs and the anagram in Not in Portland, and you mixed it up, built up a theory on mixed up info and your whole thesis falls down.
@o maior da internet:
First, one has to know the difference between a theory and a thesis, ok?
And second, I have a plenty of THOUGHTS, which I expressed throughout the comments on this site. And besides, being a LOST-fan doesn't mean you need to make 4815162342 theories a day, or let's say a week. or that you don't have the right to have an opinion on how other people make their theories. This one is just built up the wrong way, the info is not accurate and mixed up and that's it. And is someone stupid for mixing things up? Hell, no. That happens. I just think, with the size of the site and generally with the internet and all, we all check our facts for our theories before we even think to make them "public". So if you don't have anything... argumental to say, just shut it.
As for Amelia being older... we don't even know when the not-aging on the island kicks in. Maybe it happened to Amelia at a later time. Maybe the aging is just slower with people who are not Richard Alpert, but they still age. That would explain why she looks only about 60something in 2004, when she should be 107. And she just looks TOO MUCH like Amelia Earhart for it not to have anything to do with her.
As for Adam and Eve being Amelia and Fred... The producers said we'd know at the end of the series what it's up with the skeletons, and that we will know that they had a plan all along... now making them Amelia and Fred wouldn't have any special impact on us as an audience, especially since they have in season 3 that woman who looks like Amelia, is even named Amelia and now in this game, three seasons ahead of the ending of the show we have Amelia Earhart... it wouldn't be mind blowing at all and there just isn't anything big I can imagine right now happening to make Amelia and Fred being Adam and Eve so important to us.

Dave said...

As far as Amelia potentially aging faster than Richard -- the Island does seem to possibly have some specific effects on women, at least pregnant women ... with "aged" wombs ... So maybe other aging effects are different for women as well?

Also, I do agree that the "live" Yemmi we saw on the Island was probably some manifestation of the smoke monster, and so that doesn't really explain how we could see Amelia as a skeleton in a cave AND alive in the book club.

However, if you take into account the theory that the Adam and Eve skeletons could be Jack and Kate (or Sawyer and Kate, or Penny and Desmond), you could ALSO use that same theory to say that they could be Amelia and Jack, and yet at least Amelia could still be alive in the book club. If Jack and Kate (or whichever combo) are still alive on the Island AND dead in the caves, then the same possibility could be applied to the Amelia in the book club. That would allow the anagrams in both "Not in Portland" AND "One of Us" to apply... 'Cause, I mean, come on, when you put Herarat Aviation with the Amelia in the book club, and now the transmission on Sam's radio, and the e-mail about Earhart on Sam's computer, it seems that Amelia Earhart figures somewhere into the overall storyline of Lost.

You know that, at some point, we're going to be re-introduced to those two little black and white stones and all of us are just going to FREAK OUT! It's sure to be a great moment. I'm guessing they'll show them to us once fairly soon, to fake us out, and then they'll be given to whomever actually ends up in the caves. (I'm guessing it'll be Sawyer and Juliet, in their final redeeming act, where they sacrifice their lives for everyone else's. Yeah, sounds crazy...)

Dave said...

It would be Sawyer and Juliet's final penance for their misdeeds. Of course, when you think about it that way, you could easily substitute Jack and Kate in their, too. Or Michael. Who really knows.

Dave said...

When I say the stones will "be given to whomever actually ends up in the caves", I mean, like, later, in the final episode, after we already saw them in someone else's possession. Hence the fake-out.

Миљан Давид Танић said...

I like the Sawyer and Juliet idea :D:D:D

jake, there was no reason to be that aggressive on your first reply. fyi, this never was a theory by team game. we were discussing the possibility and we really thought it was quite possible. but we wanted to get some more proofs, to understand what happened to amelia's plane and everything else related to her, her accident and her disappearence.

in between, dark sent an e-mail to rafaella wondering if we had any new thoughts (and that seems right of his part, since he needs lots of information to keep his blog going) and she said what we were thinking... so dark didnt noticed the mistake we've made and published it. not his fault, not our fault.

i guess we are all lost fans and we don't need to be throwing rocks on each other every time someone comes with something wrong new thought.

now, that's my 2 cents.

The thought I have is that you have to harness whatever the power of the island is that prevents aging in order to stop aging. the idea that Alpert was possibly there with the black rock, maybe his group found out how to harness the power or 'connect with teh island.' Either that or its possible the island has to accept you before that takes affect. It is possible that Amelia on teh island (looks like she could be about 80, which puts her stopping aging right around when dharma got there). That just seems too perfect a timeline to be a coincidence. Maybe the large group attracted attention from amelia, and she met teh group and either learned how to stop the aging process or maybe how to connect with the island. Just a thought that i havent cleared up yet.

Maybe we should concentrate on going back to "Not In Portland" and find that other easter egg aside from the anagram "Mittelos"/"Lost Time." I agree with Jake that we need to consider what the writers said about it being of part of this "larger mythological mystery" which would clearly make it of great significance.

Миљан Давид Танић said...

@gustavo: Sorry, and I said I never said anybody was stupid for making mistakes. I just have the right to point out that the need for as many theories as possible, however inacurrate the facts surrounding it, is pissing me off and is ridiculous. Aside that, theorise as much as you want, that's what we're here for. And besides, people could learn taking criticism without flaming and hating somebody for debunking their theory, right?
And again, it is ridicuolous too to make theories today without checking the facts - google is a miracle.
Anyhow, this theory is based on what the producers said about Not in Portland, but used for things that happened in One of Us and as such it falls immediately down by itself. I don't say it's impossible that Eve is Amelia, I'm just saying your "proof" is no proof at all, but a mix-up.
And as for throwing rocks, you didn't see me throwing rocks at dave, did ya?
And ohlinski is right, we should try and concentrate on Not in Portland and the easter eggs there.

Миљан Давид Танић said...

And again, there is nothing with thinking and guessing, but let's stick to the facts instead of throwing them just around as we see fit.

Bolivar Baez said...

Well, giving recent sightings of people not aging on the island, I'll say the aging is there, but really slow or to an extent, different on males and females.

Unknown said...

Just a random thought...perhaps Earhart was pregnant, had the baby on the Island with Noonan, and named their baby Amelia, after her mother. Given earhart disappeared in 1937(?) and the current timeline of the show, (2004) that would make Amelia Jr. 66 or 67 years old.
I'd buy that.

Unknown said...

@jake: i get it. but as i said, it was just some inital thoughts that ended up published... i guess we got to carried away when we read that there was an easter egg and took for granted that everything was on the same episode.

getting back to what really matters. people talk about the aging thing. but actually we have more proofs that people do age on the island than that they don't. from what i can remember, only richard didn't get old. on the other hand we have ben, walt, roger and even the guy who brought roger to the island. this is still too messed up to be taken into consideration, i guess.

Unknown said...

hey dan, that's something you got there... reasonable, i'd say.

I had the same thought as Dan did on my way home today. It's a pretty reasonable theory, I'd say, that Amelia from the book club is the daughter of Earhart. Further, if Earhart and Noonan were a sort of Adam and Eve for the Island, maybe the "hostiles" that purged DHARMA were their offspring taking their island back.

Anonymous said...

the only problem i have with the Amelia Jr theory is there is no proof what so ever that she was pregnant when she took off on that flight.

Unknown said...

@ohlinski: totally agree. I think we should focus our efforts on the second easter egg.

Btw, anyone have any ideas on it? I re-watched the episode last night, but I'm missing something... though i noticed a 'weird' picture in Rachel's, Juliet's sister, apartment it's hanging over her bed (looked on lostpedia but no mention of it, that I could find). The outer edge of the painting/print is 8 sections alternating yellow and orange. In the center is a circle, and in the upper-left field is what looks like a 6 (though it maybe a astrological symbol or something, there seems to be a 'squiggley' line attached to the top) and in the lower-right field there is a 'triple wave' (three horizontal 'squiggley' lines). Anyone familiar with the image?
Probably nothing but...

@angelc1828: i'm not convinced that 'book club Amelia' is connected to Earhart. But if she is, could not Amelia get preggers on the Island (yeah, yeah I know 'so how did she carry to term?'... my answer 'no idea' ;) )

Celeste said...

I'd day that Dan's got a really good point there... and the aging part as well, but gustavo made it clear by pointing out the aging of other characters, yet another one made a good point by saying that that might only be possible by making a true communion with the Island...
yet I think anything is possible with the Island, after all, Locke is walking and the dead are talking...

Niki815 said...

Yup.. said this last night after I read Sam's laptop about Amelia's flight with Fred.

Anonymous said...

i know it's been rumored that the second easter egg was the backwards words in the Room 23 video which when reversed say "only fools are enslaved by time and space." combined with the Mittelos = LOST TIME points toward time travel as the big woohah at the end. And all that is fine and dandy. Explains how Adam and Eve could be Losties. I personally do not want them to be Jack and Kate but I don't know why. I like the idea of it being Amelia and Fred. That would make me smile but I think it's a little far fetched even for lost.

EleriCooks said...

Mind you, even though the Earhart/Herarat anagram isn't in "Not In Portland", but is in "One of Us", it *IS* part of the direct continuity of Juliet's history. So it's very possible that the NIP and OOU anagrams are linked.

Urno Talbot said...

This is such an old theory, going back to the episode the skeletons were found in the cave. We talked about it at the time, during 2 fan made args (then we thought one was official, hee, the other said he wasnt official), and ever since then. In fact I think the arg creators of TL2 must have read some message boards as it was posted about so much.

Anonymous said...

This being my first post...
I really hate jumping on theories as it tends to make my mind wander.....But I wanted to toss this idea out there (and no, I dont have any logical reasoning for this)

We know Jack has the 2 rocks. We saw him take them, and to date, noone else has them or knows about them.

We saw at the end of Season 3, Jack desperately wanting to get back to the island.

Perhaps Jack knew that *EITHER* Himself, or the person in the casket whom we still do not know who it was... were supposed to die on the island with the stones.

And since that person is now dead, not on the island, that Jack needs to get back and fix it.

As I said... I could be WAT off.... but those are the thoughts reading through all of this had me thinking.
