Video Diary 5

Update: 10:42 PM ET. Added Screencaps
Update: 10:22 PM ET. Video Diary spliced parts added.

Okay, so I've just spent some time cutting up the video diary and isolating the static-y parts. This is the first time I've ever used video cutting software. Here's the video. If you wait a bit, I'll have a better one up soon.

Here's today's video diary. Definitely some interesting screencaps are going to come out of this one.

Thanks to nookie for some screencaps of the face that appears in the video.

it's a man, i can't make out his face, most of the bits are close-ups of an eye or mouth... i think at one poin early on it says 'please help' but i can't make anything else out. if anyone can isolate these insertions and peice them back together? is this a vido from sam? or jack maybe? or even jacob?

I don't know about the visuals but it definitely sounds like there is a second audio track that is broken up in there.

Last activity is guide the rov down I suppose... keep an eye out for that nasty dharma shark.

I agree with what's being said so far. It's obviously a man, but as far as what he's saying, I have no idea. It sounded however, like a news casting or something. I don't know. It could be someone on the island too.

I did, however, make out an "I guess" somewhere in the middle. And it looked from my point that the person speaking had bushy, shoulder-length hair. My mind went straight to Jacob. Hmm...

maybe he is the one that discover's the plane wreckage??

I think that's almost a certainty.

not to forget the season 4 clues... "southfields" and "queens college" ... any info on that subject?

Just splice together the parts where there is speaking in the distortions ... I'm positive something coherent will be said ... or said in reverse.

@ the_other_other:

it sounds like it is being said in reverse...

I could make out something about "the oceanic six" but thats it so far.

The pictures in the static looks like it could be Talbot.

So with the way sam was talking about how he met Sonya, it sounds like maybe it had to do with the island? Small island, only one way on or off......? Is Sonya one of the others?

Ok, here is a thought as to the potential resolution of this ARG. What if at the end of this, instead of finding Black Rock, Sam actually finds Oceanic 815. After all the game is called Find 815.

Here is my reasoning: Sam was causing trouble, hacking and speaking out about Oceanic abandoning their search. Maybe other family members were doing the same. Perhaps there are two opposing groups, unknown to us yet and/or Hanso, one wants to find the Island – the other wants to keep it hidden.

The ARG, links to the group that is trying to keep the Island hidden, and they are leading Sam towards the “fake” discovery of the wreckage of flight 815 and that follows what Naomi told Hurley.

The freighter offshore could be the other group trying to find the Island for whatever reason, we will find out tomorrow (I can’t wait!!)

Two groups of “others” on the island. Two groups trying to find or hide the island.

Ps: Could it be that Penny is being sabotaged by her father? Did Charles Widmore find out that she was trying to find Desmond and sent Naomi and her freighter to find Desmond first and keep him away? Or keep him on the island?

There is this connection which is interesting: Naomi had the picture and Catch 22 was the Portuguese version of the book…. Which is the language spoken by our 2 guys in the north (?) pole listening station in the season 2 finale, who then called Penny to say “… I think we found him”.

Just thinking out loud… any other thoughts?

I just looked for Tanna as mentioned by Sam in the last video:

According to Wikipedia the Tannese: "perceive, internalise, and account for the dual concepts of space and time.

Here is a quote from the original article:

"Bonnemaison .... argues that the success of this can only be understood by examining how the Tannese `perceive, internalise, and account for the dual concepts of space and time' [p. 111]. His conclusion is that it is the way in which they link myth and space which has enabled the Tannese to constantly recreate their cultural identity."

cool peace... no guarantee that it's fake wreckage, though I'm certainly leaning to the direction that it is fake...

My main reason for believing this is Talbots actions the whole trip (make sam more and more convinced), and then the way he handles the interview (and was he just pretending to be on the phone to look important when they were about to launch the ROV?). It's almost as if he was the one who led him on the search.

I still think there is some twist we are going to see in the premiere that directly correlates with what we've seen the past few months. Wouldn't be surprised if Sam and/or Talbot actually shows up on the show, would be even less surprised if we're introduced to Sonya.
