There are some which are really hard to make out.

Third from the left is a Francine Rivers book.

Francine Rivers writes Christian-themed novels, according to Wikipedia, but used to write romance novels before becoming born-again.

The next one I can make out is a book by famed psychic Uri Geller.

MIMS could be a few things, inclusing the «Monthly Index of Medical Specialities» which is a pharmeceutical prescribing guide.

It looks like one is by Marilyn French, an American writer known for her feminist novels, per Wikipedia. It doesn't seem related to the game in any way. Another is Francine Rivers, who writes books using Bible stories.

"Ember from the Sun", from Mark Canter, is a rather bizarre story of a Neanderthal girl named Ember, born in today's world in a native american tribe in Canada who develops mystical powers of healing and stuff...

The book Ember from the Sun, by Mark Canter: During an archaeological dig in the icy Arctic tundra, a scientist stumbles upon a tiny embryo, still bearing the spark of life, in the womb of a 25.000-year-old Neanderthal woman. Using a surrogate mother, Ember is born, and as she grows, she begins to uncover the mysteries of her strange gifts.

One of them seems to be "Our Woman in Kabul", from Irris Makler, about the life of a woman in Afghanistan during US invasion in 2001/02

All of my friends are HUGE Francine Rivers fans! I can't believe she's part of Lost. Her biggest hit is a book called "Redeeming Love". It's based off of the biblical story of Hosea and is set I think in the 1800's. I'm almost 100% sure that the binding of that book is from "Redeeming Love". check out the cover here at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Redeeming-Love-Francine-Rivers/dp/1576738167

The Big thick brown book looks like it says One Hundred Great ___

Another is "The Fog" by either James Herbert or Dennis Etchison, John Carpenter, and Debra Hill (there are two versions).

I think the one that says "One Hundred Great Li..." is One Hundred Great Lives: Revealing Biographies of Scientists and Inventors, Leaders and Reformers, Writers and Poets, Artists and Musicians, Discoverers and Explorers, Soldiers and Statesmen, Great Women. It's an old hardcover book from 1945.

My heart nearly stopped when I saw Francine Rivers on that shelf. I am doing a thesis paper on three of her novels. It was just too creepy.

Yes, that is definetely Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers! I own it!
Based on Hosea--a man destined to love and keep his wife, no matter what she does.

aww!! i can't believe Francine Rivers made it into the game. that is awesome. she rocks. she is such a great Christian author. Redeeming Love is so good, but her Mark of the Lion series is amazing. hmmm- how does this fit in to the story though??
