Find815.com experiencing some problems (*Updated*)

UPDATE 3:50 GMT: It seems Find815.com is back up (for me at least). I have spoken to some people who say they can still not access the site, however.

UPDATE 2:12 GMT: The Maxwell Group and Flyoceanicair.com are also down.

Also thanks to durden108 in the comments for this screen shot of what he was able to see while remaining logged in to find815.com from earlier (it also seems it will be 95 hours + until the next update):

Original Post 1:58 GMT:

Thousands of people are trying to access Find815.com right now.... however many (or all) of those people are seeing something quite different.

Obviously this can be attributed to the update that was supposed to occur or is occurring right now. Cross your fingers and hope it can be accessed sometime soon without any more problems. If you see the site is working normally use the comments to let other people know. :)

No wonder Sam got fired from his IT position at Oceanic... he can't even keep his own website running! XD

i think either they got it late and are still update-ing the site OR some IT guy really screwed up!! and left some unfinished business....

PLEASE SOMEONE FIX IT ALREADY!!!!

I'm still logged in on find815, but everything is really slow.I see two new videos in the "story so far" section, but they're stuck in the loading process.

My "Story So Far" section just says "WEEK 2 text text text"

MAN, 2 new things and then a 95 hr wait !! crazy !

notlost said...

they should release new info randomly so 2000000000million people dont crash the site...very poor....

I'm getting a 403 Forbidden at find815. Goodness, I hope they sort out their servers and realize that 1000s of people will be hitting the site at the exact same time and do something to make it more 'stable' (i don't much about this stuff, but there has to be something they can do :( )

Very disappointing.

Charlie08 said...

whos running the servers ??

ABC ??

or a australian company ?

notlost said...

maybe ben is blocking the signal....what a crock of....

Anonymous said...

I'm getting the same 403 forbidden message. I hope they get this figured out soon. What a great promo tool to let go to waste.

Anonymous said...

I'm getting a "Forbidden" message too. Thousands of people are accessing at the same time, and the server apparently cannot handle that:(

Anonymous said...

I guess that's what happens when you put a countdown clock on the page and wait 72 hours to release new info.

Anonymous said...

i tried 'walking-in' through the FlyOceanicAir site - same result 403 (might save somebody some time)

Charlie08 said...

hey everyone,

the 403 means they have locked the site from use !

You don't have permission to access /site/index.php on this server.

yeah jlg628jlg, I was thinking the same thing when this started and they had a countdown clock. with the small trickle of clues/activities, players are going to be cued up waiting for the timer. Essentially they are engineering their own DoS attack (right?)

find815.com is hosted on mediatemple and they were using the grid service (http://www.mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/). They boast the ability to handle large influxes of data. I have had the exact same issue during a site-launch on mediatemple, but they were able to fix the issue within a few hours. My educated guess is that they're currently moving everything to a dedicated server right now, as they are EASILY past their 1TB transfer quota!

as an update: the-maxwell-group and flyoceanicair sites are loading for me :)

Anonymous said...

the-maxwell-group loaded for me, but still no flyoceanicair and find 815

Steff said...

same as jessiiccaaa.. only maxwell works

Anonymous said...

They both loaded for me as well. Hopefully a good sign for find815!

whos running the servers ??
Good question!!
Congested, crazy and disappointed, I agree with all of you!!

They should have expected the amount of LOST FANS that would participate!

I was able to log on the first day and sign up for a username and password, but didn't finish chapter 1 and since then I have got a black screen.

I'm getting a 403 Forbidden at find815 and at flyoceanicair.com also. The page source has change to 403 forbidden error.

I have tried a sugestion from another poster to change to #scene_2, it never worked for me.

hope they learn their lesson after tonights fiasco..

It worked long enuff for me to finish the puzzle, but then I read about the new e-mail and went to look for myself and the thing is down again!!! ARGH!

Hi, I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I was getting the same error messages all night. But, randomly, I decided to see if the oceanic air website would let me in. (If you watch the whole video, a window pops up directing you to the find815 website.) I did it, and it let me right in.

Give it a try! Hope this helps!

Anonymous said...

Hm, well, at least I got past the infernal error message pages. Whether or not the page actually works is still up in the air. But, still, it's nice to see a black loading screen instead of a white YOU SUCK AT LIFE WE HATE YOU page!

Jrcaporal said...

Yeahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

11:30 pm here in cancun, I entered the page, after 3.5 hours of long wait :D

I'm sorry if I spoiled anything for anyone! At the time of my previous comment, there was no where else to post but here.

I googled Locke & Apache together...there's a Jonathon Locke that works for Apache. Coincidence?
