if you havent realized it yet, the site basically updates every weekday at 6:00. the countdown only refers to an extension of the story. if you get on around 6:00, site traffic will be slow but there will be new content, such as the new emails and website today. also, is anyone else being told that they're missing one of the emails from chapter one now? cuz i am, and it's bugging me, cuz i dont think i can go back to chapter 1, can i?

my chapter 1 is totally green.... with 10 emails...
you don't have to go back to chapter one, just re-read all mails in Sam's laptop....

my 2 emails from chapter 2 appear missing every time i log in, i just have to re-read them again...

of course, now, the email page wont load...

and yes, i know there are updates every week day... that's why i'm up at 2 am!!

hello from Portugal madera ;)

The painting on the web site is by Joseph Mallord William Turner and is called "The Slave Ship" or "Slavers Throwing overboard the Dead and Dying — Typhon coming on" Original here. Note missing images at bottom. Will this change like the Sunda Trench map image?

Can anyone see what the 2 pictures are below the painting of the Black Rock?? I have a Mac, but I'm not sure if its me or the web site is still acting up!
Namaste!

One of those images will most likely be the slave ship diagram from the sunda trench page. It was probably put there by mistake.

Paula said...

nope, the pictures can't be seen.. sorry

Oh good, Cant wait for more clues! Thanx Paula! A big NAMASTE to you!

I'm positive that this is a not a clue, just a mistake on the part of the game makers, but did anybody notice that there is no ".com" in the address bar of the Black Rock page?

Paula said...

NAMASTE right back at you Dr. Candle ;)

jesus, i noticed that but when you type that into a browser it automaticly inputs the .com so... i'm not sure how to look at this... probably just a mistake.. mho...

Yes, and if you try it as a web address it takes you to a unrelated page like the sunda trench address did. Bummer.

What are your theories on how the Black Rock fits into this excursion?

I'm guessing that there is gold or something else valuable hidden in the ship. I think Widemore or Hanso wants to get the valuables out of the ship, for fear that the Losties might find it (?)...

how that ties in to the Trench, etc., I don't know...

Paula said...

melissa, so far i believe that they are after the gold that the Black Rock was carrying, but i think there is something else besides that...

about how the Trench is related, as I said previously, that region, Sunda, is known to have mysterious disappearances like in the Bermuda triangle, maybe they think the Black Rock sunk there....

If you really want to dissect the painting, here is a link that allows you to zoom all over it. Head to the bottom of the page.

i read days ago that the story continues relates only to video content, so there's no countdown to emails and webpages.

I can't seem to view this webpage on The Black Rock, and instead I have a page about Sunda Stories, a list of disappearances in the Sunda Trench.
The Progress Tab says there are 2/3 websites available in Chapter 2, but I've only viewed 1.

adrianandbec said...

i have a different third website to the black rock website listed here- it is called "sunda stories" and has a list of planes/boats that have disappeared in the sunda trench...i dont have the black rock site

LouieLou said...

Petor23.....i am seeing the same thing. no longer have the black rock website....dunno whats going on.

s3phy said...

petor23, same here! No trace of this Black Rock website, and like you I instead have the Sunda Stories page. My progress for chapter 2 states the same as you, and in my chapter 1 progress, "Activity" became red again...

LouieLou said...

Site is glitchin again, i guess.

Dr. Candle said...

Yeah the black rock website is gone after only a couple of hours, now replaced with another bogus Sunda Trench site. This page does seem to have much more info to dig through for possible clues though! Crazy, confusing and just plain cool!!
Namaste!

I'm pretty sure the black rock website was released on accident. In the email Sam is still asking Tracey about the black rock so it makes sense that we'd see that site when he sends us more information. My progress now just shows one website released.

I dont know if you guys did a whois search on the domain slaveshipsearch.com or findoutpedia.com but the registrant name is someone called Millicent Holzheimer. They've added the address to their details (which is kinda weird coz most people just put their name and the address doesn't seem to register in any search i've googled.
check it out on this site http://whois.domaintools.com/slaveshipsearch.com

67 23rd st doesn't exist, the lowest that it goes according to google maps is 300 23rd st. 67 would be out in the bay somewhere ;) Maybe the 67 is a clue? 300 23rd st has a zip code of 94107 also.

I can view the slave ship site as an actual website. I'm going to take screen caps while i can but when i right clicked and hit properties, it said it was created and modified today. also the "address [URL]" is listed as http://www.find815.com/sss/index.html
Interesting, huh?

Anyway, here are the screencaps.
