Oceanic Airlines' Billboards Recap

**UPDATED 12:30AM PST 1/7** Seoul Billboard Found

**UPDATED 5AM PST 1/6** Miami Billboard Found

**UPDATED 12PM PST** Sydney Billboard Found

Hey All,
Since there are multiple posts floating around with various images of the billboards Dark and I felt that it would be good to organize them together in one post.

As many of you have already pointed out it seems like the billboards are located in the Oceanic Airlines' destination cities, which are listed in the ABC Press Release.

So far billboards have been found in 6 of the 9 cities. In addition to the billboards being placed in these particular cities some of them seem to have some potential easter eggs. For example, the sky being "purple" or the time on Big Ben being 8:15.

In addition to the EEs, some of you have brought up the idea that the "vacation" spots listed on the billboards could also have some meaning. Most notably why is Berlin listed as a potential destination in the Tustin, CA billboard?? Could it possibly be linked to this spoiler??

The LA billboard states that "The Adventure Begins Here" with Australia in background, I wonder if there is a path we have to follow with the billboards and it creates a symbol on a map or is it all just viral marketing for the game??

Thanks to everyone that has sent in their images or posted them on here. I have linked all of the cities to their initial posts and provided some basic information for each location. The list is followed by the several screencaps of the billboards.

If you think I have missed anything or find something new please post a comment here or send an email to Dark or me at: mrtheodi@gmail.com.

Los Angeles, CA (Jack, Hurley): The Adventure Begins Here -- Australia
Tustin, CA (Locke): Berlin

would be cool if they put one in Australia, probably not but would be good :)

well i hope they did also...it would only make sense to have one in Australia and S. Korea... :)

the portland poster has a visible "6" on the korean sign.

i suppose the number 6 is a huge part of season four, knowing it shows up in mostly all of the previews.

Hm... The adventure begins here... it just makes sense as the start of our (the TV show's) story...

i just saw those - there is a pic of a comic with what looks like a sign reminiscent of a wanted/missing flier featuring Kate with the caption "LOST" :)

I live I London... now one's appeared in Sydney I'm gonna have to keep an eye out!

in the sydney billboard,in the left corner at the bottom there is the caption "LOST",and something else written below that i can't read...it's the only one where there is the explicit reference to lost

Taglines:

"The adventure begins here." (Sydney)
To the Losties, their island adventure begin in the Sydney airport.

"Discover the mysteries of Berlin."
Unknown

"Lose yourself in London."
Desmond kind of lose himself in his time traveling in London.

"A new life awaits you in Seoul."
Ironic to the fact that Sun wants a new life in America instead of Seoul.

"Find yourself back to L.A."
Clearly a reference to the Losties.

"Fly to L.A."
Ironic to the Losties' original flight.

Guesses for the last 2?

Mine are Seoul = Portland and
Miami = Paris maybe...

Then the character connections could connect in a line. Any takers?

it should also be noted that the new Sydney BB has as it's website FlyOceanicAir.com.au

I love the billboards advertising London. We know Desmond lived in London, spent three years inputting the numbers which include 8 and 15, and he turned the sky purple when Locke lost himself (ie faith).

Oh, I live in Seoul during the semester but I stay in my hometown away frm Seoul about 4 hours during the vacation... And my vacation would end by the end of Feb T_T I really want to see Oceanic BB in Seoul (I'm sure that they set one up in here too!) with my eyes... I'm gonna tell the Korea Lost fans to always keep their eyes open in Seoul.

DarkUFO said...

Thanks Foxy, keep us posted :)

I wonder why the two London "vacation" or "destination" billboards (located in Ames and New York) are the same while the two L.A. "vacation" billboards (located in Sydney and Knoxville) are different. One says "Fly to L.A." the other "Find your way back to L.A"? It's almost like they are giving directions

k-mo said...

It's strange that all the billboards name the destination but the LA billboard simply says "The adventure begins here.” The “here” is ambiguous; is it s reference to LA or Sydney or even the purple sky?

Sorry Dark, I didn't think that was considered a spoiler. I guess you kind of confirmed it for me though :)

LOL No worries :)

man....i thought by now folks in miami would find the billboard and post it....!?

has anyone seen a link to the miami BB or Seoul BB....??

i am assuming they will be located in major downtown or "high" traffic areas....

thanks

I got the LA one by politely asking the billboard company. I assume the same is true for Miami. There are probably a handful of big outdoor advertising companies in Miami. I know it's not Clear Channel.

Has anyone ever found it odd that "Oceanic" services landlocked Tennessee and Iowa?

The ODI said...

hey k-mo,
i guess that is a good way to get the BB....i actually happened to drive by the one on sunset in LA and was excited to see it there...

thanks

Continental flies to London. ;)

Thought maybe the statue outside the Berliner Dom (actually the Altes Museum) in the Berline BB might hold a clue (thought it could be Apollo), but it's simply titled "Lion Fighter."

PenguinJosh said...

Would be awesome to have one in London, but im 50 miles out so couldn't see it anyways!

But still...

might be worth the journey!
