Christiane 1 featured on Lost episode: "Confirmed Dead"

There was a direct tie-in to the "Find 815" ARG in tonight's episode of Lost. The show opened with ROV footage from the Christiane 1 and the boat was mentioned by a TV reporter in a Daniel Faraday flashback.

Screencaps to come. (send any in if you have them)

Isn't it a Daniel Faraday Flashback?

You should just watch it.

Indeed it is Daniel Faraday. I expect that to change any time now.

I was so giddy with the episode opener. The only problem I had was that the voices you heard over the comm system (or whatever it was) wasn't Sam's voice, which it should have been as he was the one to pilot the ROV that discovered the wreckage.

This was definitely my favorite episode of the whole series, archeology, ghost hunting, a cool bahama dude, and a bunch of new pins on my Lost World Map!

I thought the same thing Visualfxguy, about it not being Sam's voice that we heard. Not sure what to make of that.

God my bad on the name, fixing it now

Yeah, the stuff on the ROV was nothing like the stuff that Sam Thomas said or saw, except for the plane. I have three theories:

1) Multiple Universes

2) Staged footage to put on the news, because Sam's discovery is only dramatic if you can see Sam.

3) They just totally flubbed their continuity.

pope richard: I read on a spoiler somewhere there's a major problem with continuity. Perhaps you're right there.

There were also 2 ROVs in tonights episode...but in the game there was only one - with limited batteries I might add :P
I've also been wondering why Oceanic's first press release was dated Dec 2007? Anyone have an answer for this? Thanks.

It was dated 2007 because they made a mistake. Also I think the reason they didn't have sam's voice was because then they would have to explain Find815 to the fans who didn't play.

Pope Richard Corey said...

By the "they would have to explain it to non-815 fans" logic, they now have to explain the pilots of the ROVs to everyone who's a fan. "Who was piloting the ROVs" is just as likely to come up no matter what voice they used.

Plus, to explain it they could've just, you know, pointed out "Go check out Find 815!"

My theory - they filmed the episode and the writers went 'oh wow this would be good for an ARG' so then they created Sam Thomas.
Or it is the 'they would have to explain it to non-815 fans'

And Pope Richard Corey,
Why exactly do they have to explain the pilots of the ROV's to everyone? To an average fan it wouldn't be important because, as the new report said, the Christiane I was looking for a sunken ship. There, the pilots of the ROVs have been explained. It is that simple....

If they'd need to explain Sam, then they'd need to explain anyone. I don't see why Sam in an off-hand reference in the episode is more intriguing than a couple of random people.

who's to say they didn't send down another ROV after Sam went down? They didn't specifically say there was only one ROV did they? we only saw the part of the story they wanted to tell us. you see it all the time with different news footage on a story, i think its too open to claim inconsistency.

I agree with andrew, Sam saw the plane, then after the batteries ran out they sent more ROVs.

There are also two ROVs in the "hacked" Oceanic Golden Pass commercial.

Yeah, I was definitly wondering why that wasn't Sam's voice. Obviously the people doing the ROV on the show were just finding it, but if Sam and Talbot had already found it, what's the point?

I was just so excited they mentioned the Christiane I. I keep waiting for Sam's face to pop up!

Did anyone else notice in the begining of the episode when "Daniel Faraday" was crying while watching the plane the girl who we conveintly couldn't see said why are you getting so upset SAM!! I found it weird because when they were pulling back from the TV it was very similar to the end of this ARG until saw who was watching. what is Daniel is the inside guy and he is really Sam but they are using a differant actor. I also have a theory that sam suffered from some mental illness in the past if you read some of the messages and the VMs from his mom she seems like she hints at past mental problems.
Just thought it was interesting.

Prety sure she said "Why are you getting so upset, Dan?"

David Miller said...

I heard it as "Why are you getting so upset, Sam," but maybe I was just in a Sam frame of mind, having watched the ROV's.

Does anybody have it recorded?

Thomasriekki said...

It couldn't have been two more ROVs after Sam's ran out of batteries because they were surprised to find the plane...If Sam had already found it, they would have known exactly where to go and what they were looking for.

There WERE also other crew that we didn't see in Find 815. I mean, who was Talbot talking to before the ROV dive. It could have been the other crew not present INSIDE the ship, but rather crew outside.

I heard the name Sam too.

Definitely, that cameras weren´t from Christiane 1!

Because:
- Their voices don´t have australian accent.
- They didn´t know that the 815 was there. Nether Occam, Talbot or Sam told them something about it.

So who are the cameras` owners?

Ron and the other guy?

Just rewatched the episode and that woman definately says Dan

Here is my Theory: Ron and Zip are the first ones who discover the Oceanic 815. They work for Maxwell, or Widmore, or Hanso, or whatever and fore some reason their research wasnt availbe to be set in public. After that they need to put their discovery on public manipulating someone and recreating the discovering, that was Talbot's job. Thats why Maxwell gropu send messages to Sam, leading him to "discover" the flight.
On the game we see when Sam finds it, and it wasnt a surprise for Talbot. In the Show we see the first and the real discovery of the plane.
Notice that Daniel dont see the opening escene of 4x02, thats something for the public of the show, then we see what Dan see on news, a large footage of the plane, without comentaries of the ROV operators.
sorry for my bad english.
